Romy aimerait bien, mais elle peut point ! Abonnée au Sississeries et autres films à l'eau de roses, elle remet le couvert avec ce "Katia" qui ne déroge pas à la rêgle. Au moins, c'est Curd SIODMAK aux manettes, c'est déja cela. On est encore loin de "la piscine"....
Les deux compères Burt LANCASTER et Kirkl DOUGLAS sont toujours aussi populaires, et l'oublié "Au fil de l'épée" attire un public familial.
Sans être un grand succès, un film de Robert ALDRICH avec Robert MITCHUM ne manque pas d'attirer des afficionados des films US de série B.
Un nouveau comique Anglais commence à faire parler de lui: grand succès Britannique, "la souris qui rugissait" qui n'est diffusé que dans une seule salle, permet au grand Peter SELLERS de se faire connaître du public Français.

Katia ou Katja, die ungekrönte Kaiserin. Such a magnificent movie. The best of all times. Two unforgettable legends, a love pair in this 1959 movie. I think noone can go through the whole movie without being effected by the beauty, charm and burst of talent of young Romy Schneider in portraying Katia, first as an impoverished schoolgirl, then Tsar Alexander II's sweetheart and at last his morganatic wife, and of course the fascinating acting power of Curd Jürgens in portraying Tsar Alexander II. Despite their enormous age discrepancy, what a unique couple, what a great love and a complete devotion. A real fairy tale adopted from the real history. History has his own tales, the important point is to bring them to life again. Millions of thanks to these two legends and especially for this magnificent movie which is still adored. What a pity of fate that both of them passed away the same year, within a month. They should have lived much longer. They were real legends, they are still and will be forever. May both of them rest in eternal peace in their heaven.
